We arrived in Budapest around 2:00 PM and were greeted at the airport by our AMA representative, who then collected our luggage and guided us to the bus to arrive at the ship. No problems here, they were on time and courteous. When we got to the ship our rooms were not ready until after 3:00 PM, but they had a wonderful lunch waiting for us in the Main Lounge. After Lunch my husband Tim and I took a short walk toward Chain Bridge, took some pictures and was amazed how beautiful it was.... AND HOW COLD! The next morning started our tour- which again, unlike Ocean Cruising, all the tours, with the exception of 3 extra optional tours, were also included in the price. We were docked in a great location right next to Buda Castle. The morning tour consisted of the distinctive Fisherman's Bastion, St. Matthias Church, the marvelous Royal Palace, St. Stephen's Basilica, Hero's Square and Great Market Hall. Fisherman's Bastion was my favorite, we had a nice sunny, blue sky day and the views were fantastic where you could see the city as well as the gorgeous Parliament Building. The rest of the day was at our leisure so off to the Christmas Market in Budapest. Budapest was a small market, but very well done and the selection of items/crafts were one of the best. They seemed to have the most unique items for sale. If you have never seen the Christmas Markets in Europe, I would definitely recommend it. Each one out did the other, the lights, the sounds, the smells.....all so incredible and beautiful and coming from Florida, it was just what I was looking for. A real Christmas feeling......That evening at dinner was our welcome aboard cocktail reception where we enjoyed a Gypsy performance on board.
